Dataset overview and sources

This page summarizes where the UniversalIQTest.com dataset comes from and how the published statistics are produced. If you want a deeper explanation of formulas and limitations, see the Methodology and limits page.

Overview

The UniversalIQTest.com dataset is built from completed online IQ tests on universaliqtest.com. The statistics are descriptive: they summarize performance in this dataset and do not represent population averages or clinical IQ diagnoses.

Dataset sources

All published statistics come from first-party test results collected on UniversalIQTest.com. We do not blend in third-party IQ datasets for the rankings or averages. Country, education, and study-area fields are provided by users during the test flow and are standardized into fixed categories for reporting.

What we collect

  • Test score (number of correct answers).
  • Time taken to complete the test.
  • Self-reported age band and gender.
  • Self-reported education level and study area.
  • Self-reported country, mapped to ISO country codes.

We publish only aggregated statistics. Individual-level records are not shown on the site.

Scoring and metrics

The core score is based on correct answers, with time taken used as a tie-breaker. For published charts, scores are converted to percentiles and then mapped onto an IQ-style scale (mean 100, standard deviation 15). We report means, medians, percentile ranges, and 95% confidence intervals for group averages.

Validation and quality

Each result is marked as validated or unvalidated using internal checks for timing, completion, and consistency. The validated view is our quality-focused subset. The all-results view includes everything and can be noisier for smaller groups.

Coverage and limits

  • The dataset reflects visitors to UniversalIQTest.com, not a census.
  • Self-reported demographics can include errors or omissions.
  • Small sample sizes lead to wider confidence intervals.
  • Online testing conditions (device, language, environment) can affect performance.
