1) Who we are
This website, universaliqtest.com ("Universal IQ Test", "we", "us"), is operated by an individual based in Bern, Switzerland.
Contact: contact@universaliqtest.com
2) What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our online IQ test, statistics pages, leaderboards, and result links.
3) Information we collect
A) Test and result data
When you take the test, we process and store data such as:
- Your answers and whether they were correct
- Timing data (e.g., total time and/or per-question timing)
- Your calculated result (e.g., score, percentile, category, rankings)
- Validation/quality signals (e.g., whether an attempt is treated as "validated")
B) Demographics (self-reported)
If you provide them, we store self-reported fields such as:
- Age group/band
- Gender (as offered by the form)
- Education level
- Study area
- Country
C) Email (recovery / linking attempts)
If you provide an email address, we store it to:
- Link multiple attempts to the same user (history/recovery features)
- Help you recover results
Important: If your recovery process allows recovery based on email alone, then anyone who knows that email may be able to retrieve associated attempts/results. Please use this feature carefully.
D) Device/browser identifiers ("fingerprints")
We use device/browser identifiers (including fingerprint-style signals) for:
- Linking attempts when users return
- Preventing abuse and protecting the integrity of statistics and leaderboards
- Detecting suspicious or automated submissions
We do not use fingerprinting for advertising.
E) Technical logs
Like most websites, our servers and infrastructure may log technical information such as:
- IP address
- Browser/device details (user agent)
- Timestamps, pages requested, error and security logs
4) How we use information (purposes)
We use the information above to:
- Provide the test and display your results
- Compute dataset statistics and charts (including "validated vs all" views)
- Maintain integrity of rankings and detect low-quality or abusive submissions
- Provide result recovery/history when you provide an email
- Secure, maintain, and improve the website
5) Public results, share links, and leaderboards
Result pages are accessible via a unique link (e.g., /r/...). Anyone with the link may be able to view the result. Please treat result links as public.
Leaderboards and "recent results" components may display information such as:
- Nickname
- Score / percentile / timing summary
- Country (if available)
- A link to the result page
If you want a publicly visible result removed from leaderboards or public lists, contact contact@universaliqtest.com with the result link.
6) Analytics and cookies (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand website usage (e.g., page views, device/browser category, approximate location derived from IP, and interactions). Google Analytics typically uses cookies or similar technologies.
You can limit analytics by:
- Using browser settings to block cookies
- Using browser privacy features / content blockers
- Using Google's opt-out mechanisms (where available)
7) Sharing and service providers (processors)
We use third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers may process personal data on our behalf:
- Hosting/CDN: Vercel
- Database: Neon
- Email sending: Resend
- Analytics: Google Analytics (Google)
We share data only to the extent necessary to run the Service (hosting, storage, email delivery, analytics, security).
8) International data transfers
Our providers may process data in countries outside Switzerland/your country (including the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) for cross-border transfers.
9) Data retention (safe defaults)
We retain data as follows (unless we decide to shorten these periods later):
- Test attempts + performance/timing + demographics: retained as long as needed to provide the Service and to maintain long-term aggregate statistics (often long-term/indefinite).
- Email used for recovery/linking: retained until you stop using the Service for an extended period; as a default we retain for up to 24 months after the last activity associated with that email, then may delete or anonymize.
- Device/browser identifiers (fingerprints): retained for integrity/recovery/linking purposes; default up to 24 months after last activity.
- Server/security logs: typically retained for up to 30 days (longer if needed for security investigations).
- Analytics data: retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
10) Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., Switzerland, EU/EEA), you may have rights to request access, correction, restriction, objection, or deletion of personal data.
You can contact us at contact@universaliqtest.com. For privacy and security, we may ask you to verify control of an email address or a specific result link before acting.
11) Children
The Service is intended for users 12+. If you believe a child under 12 has provided personal data, contact contact@universaliqtest.com and we will take appropriate action.
12) Security
We use reasonable measures to protect data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please do not share result links if you want results to remain private.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
